There are some pretty interesting places to shop in Guerneville. We have everything from clothing to books, pet supplies to fishing rods! We don't have room in this blog for all the awesome places in Guerneville available for your retail therapy, but these are a good start! To shake things up a bit I have added some Yelp reviews so you can see what other people had to say about our charming little town!
One of the more elegant places to shop in Guerneville is the Panache Optical Gallery. They feature designer eyeglasses with well over 2,000 different frames in the store. The glasses have been worn by a number of famous people in movies and they even have a custom order option if you want to exercise your more unique side. Their store includes a gallery full of gorgeous art from local artists making your shopping experience unforgettable. Michael L. from Las Vegas posted on Yelp "Wow! Great selection of glasses of all types. The sunglasses are amazing and the eyeglasses very good quality. I needed new prescription glasses as my frames had broke. I stopped in as they are local to see what they had. The space is beautiful and the owner (Art) takes great pride in this space. He was very helpful in finding me just the right glasses within my budget. Once I had ordered them, they were back pretty quick. I came in for a fitting and we got it taken care of on the spot. I have had many compliments on the way they fit my face and the style.Thank you, Art, for making this such an easy process. If I need glasses again, I will come see you."
If you are looking for a great place to shop in Guerneville stop by Mockingbird books. They have a great selection of new and used books and they are extremely friendly. In November 2015 they moved into where Twice Told Books used to be and since then they have begun to carve out their place in our local community. Everyone on the Russian River seems to love the new addition to our town. Matt R. from Los Angeles posted on Yelp "Twice Told Books is now MOCKINGBIRD BOOKS. The Guerneville shop is the second location for this great independent bookstore, the first being in Sebastopol. They moved into the space in November of 2015, and they are working toward creating the same inviting, comforting, book-lovers' environment as they have in their first store. They have an interesting selection of used books, and they plan on selling the latest new bestsellers in the coming months. Mockingbird Books is a welcome new addition to the Russian River community!"
Sonoma Nesting Company is an adorable little antique shop in Guerneville that is perfect for finding unique treasures to spruce up your home. This is one of the coolest little shops on the River with its ever-changing selection of interesting antiques. Janel A. from San Francisco said on Yelp "I'm a serious fan and collector of Dax & Smitty's work. They produce some of the most beautiful pieces of furniture I've seen. They have a very skilled hand and a keen eye for color and beauty. I really can't say enough words of adoration for their gorgeous creations and their absolutely cool shop they run. Don't miss a stop at their shop in Guerneville if you are around Russian River/Sonoma Coast area. You're bound to find something truly special to bring home with you! ;-)"
Commerce Fine Goods is fairly new to town. It is located in the Guerneville Bank Club on the right side upon entering. This shop is absolutely exquisite with its treasures from independent artists and designers as well as a little hint of the River thrown in. It is a great place to stop in, get some ice cream and browse the amazing selection. The shop has everything from home decor to fashion and anything you find there would make a wonderful gift for someone you care about. Since they are so new there were no reviews up on Yelp yet so I encourage you to stop in and take a look, then go and write them a review so that everyone else can see how wonderful they are too.
Second's First is an interesting little shop in Guerneville. Although it claims to be a second-hand store many of their products are brand new and all of them are interesting and charming. They are a women's clothing store that features everything from tie-dye to denim and ton's of accessories. They also have greeting cards, toys, and humorous gifts as well. The store is a treasure trove! Janis B. from Guerneville posted on Yelp "Fun store has something for everyone I found some awesome second-hand blouses and got a great deal to boot I got friendly helpful service with nice music playing in the background, try this store u will love it too"
Barker Pet Supply is located on River Road just outside of town. They are one of the coolest local pet shops I have ever seen. Friendly staff welcomes you as you enter the store, a variety of organic, delicious treats for your pets, and equipment so that you can bathe your animals in a safe environment. Make sure that you are pampering your furry family members and take them out to shop in Guerneville as well! Jessica B. from Fontana posted on Yelp "Great staff! They gave my puppy so much love and attention with good tips and tricks for me. I went in there asking for the best treat to keep my pup occupied and they suggested the frozen Primal raw beef marrow bone and the Rogue River Backstrap beef tendon. The tendon was great and kept my pup occupied during dinner. The beef bone kept him happy during the long drive back to Socal. I was so glad to have met sweet Karen, a caring animal lover. Stop by and treat your four-legged friend!"
Guerneville 5 & 10 has been one of the most beloved places to shop in Guerneville for generations! They have everything from river toys to greeting cards, yarn to old fashion candy. Since 1949 they have been dazzling vacationers and endearing locals to their shop. As the large corporations continue to take over the outside world here we prefer to go with good local products that we can buy from someone we know who smiles and wishes us a great day and means it! Jeffrey S. from Midvale Utah posted on Yelp saying "Who says the old five and dimes are just for kids? After a day full of grown-up activities like sophisticated dining and perusing antique stores, it was a blast to go into the Guernville 5&10. I wasn't like a kid in a candy store...I WAS a kid in a candy store. The place is crawling with candy--everything from the popular gas station varieties to the harder to find retro brands. In addition to the sweets, they've got everything you need to enjoy the river like rafts, wading shoes; a big craft section for crocheters, knitters, and artists; and just about everything in between. I grabbed a paper bag and filled it with every kind of saltwater taffy they had. Then we got back in the car and spent the next hour sampling them one by one on the way down the highway."
King's is another shop in Guerneville that has been around for generations. They have fresh and saltwater fishing tackle, kayak rentals, fishing rod rentals, shoes, apparel, swimwear, and stuff for camping. They will help get you ready to experience the best of the great outdoors here on the Russian River and even give you some outstanding advice on good fishing or swimming holes as only a local would know. Ernie D. from Hermosa Beach posted on Yelp "Exceptionally accommodating staff and top quality kayaks made for a really fun time on the Russian River. We rented in early June and the water level was low. You meet them at the store, pay for your rentals, leave your car on the main street, walk down to the beach and they deliver your kayaks, life jackets, and paddles there. Hop in and float or paddle for the next five miles of beautiful river. At the end, they pick you up and drive you back. Easy as pie and a GREAT time. We went with three adults and four kids ages 18, 16, 14, 11. We rented two tandem (double) kayaks and three singles. I'd do it again in a second!"
If you are looking to go shopping and find items that are completely unique then stop by Shakedown Street In Guerneville where Coco, a seamstress, is sewing up some of the most interesting things that you can't find anywhere else in the world! Her designs are hers alone and she continues to wow visitors with her fun handmade clothes and other products. One of her more unique items is her handmade guitar cases always designed with something interesting and a lot of times including some tye dye touches for good measure. Also, the custom quilts she creates are absolutely stunning. Sophia Works Shakedown Street is not yet on Yelp, however, Cory M. posted a review on Facebook saying "Coco is a great seamstress, timely and artistic. I also have to mention how well her products hold up I have had a pair of patchwork pants she made going on 4 years and they have definitely been frequently worn and still look great."
After a long day of shopping consider stopping by this shop in Guerneville laden with healthy organic food that will fill your tummy and enrich your body with nutrients. This is the local health food store that is full of vegetarian and vegan options as well as staff that is friendly and welcoming. One of my favorite things is in the winter they have leaky Cauldron butterbeer! So much fun and intrigue in this small town shop! Elle G. from San Francisco posted on Yelp saying "Food for Humans reminds me of the store I worked at which was my first job at 15 called the unicorn but a quarter of the size. I do 90% of my shopping here when I shop in Guerneville. And most of my shopping in general. The prices are great! The organic produce is actually inexpensive for the best quality. The only thing in the store that I found more expensive than Whole Foods was the coconut and olive oils. Otherwise very comparable. They have an amazing selection for such a tiny market. I adore the owner and employees. So kind and helpful. Friendly and warm. I am grateful for and support this establishment."
